News hardware With this connected watch, Huawei wants to overtake the Apple Watch and take your blood pressure

The Huawei Watch D connected watch is the latest addition to the Chinese manufacturer’s catalog. Unveiled at the IFA in Berlin, this model offers in particular to take the tension of its user on a daily basis. Take it in the teeth, Apple!

To say that new more or less high-end smartwatches arrive on the market every month is far from being an exaggeration. Most of today’s references, regardless of their price, are at least equipped with a heart rate sensor in addition to the traditional accelerometer, pedometer and other GPS. Therefore, it is not surprising that manufacturers are now seeking to go further to differentiate themselves from the competition.

Huawei is one of them. The Chinese manufacturer is now comfortably established in the connected watch market, especially on the entry and mid-range side. But with the Huawei Watch D, he hopes to conquer the hearts of users looking for a connected watch largely oriented towards health, for a price set at less than 500 euros.

Take your blood pressure with the Huawei Watch D

At the heart of the brand’s proposal with its Huawei Watch D, the ability to measure blood pressure at the wrist. If Huawei presents its device as the first of its kind, it is however not the first to display such a feature: Samsung does this with its most recent Galaxy Watches, but the effectiveness of the proposal is very risky.

Unlike Samsung, which blocks this function to reserve it for owners of a terminal of its brand and which involves an initial calibration using a real blood pressure monitor, the Huawei Watch D offers blood pressure measurement to everyone. For this, she uses a high-resolution pressure sensor, accompanied by a macromolecular stretch bracelet equipped with an ergonomic arc airbag. Everything is designed to work like a medical blood pressure monitor, but on the wrist and not on the arm. “The accurate blood pressure measurement system’s margin of error does not exceed ±3 mmHg 1, which allows users to measure their blood pressure anywhere and anytime”explains the manufacturer.

Other interesting medical functions

If the Huawei Watch innovates on the side of taking the voltage, it is not limited to that. We can also cite the presence of a high-performance ECG sensor module which is intended to perform electrocardiograms in real time. A monitoring mode is responsible for detecting any abnormal heart rate which may require further measurement.

Added to this are more common functions such as heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, stress monitoring and skin temperature monitoring. Of course, there is also sleep analysis and 70 sports modes for measuring physical performance. The autonomy of the watch should go up to 7 days, but intensive use will undoubtedly make it drop.

Huawei Watch D, price and availability

The Huawei Watch D connected watch will be commercially available from mid octoberat the price of 499 euros. With such a proposal, there is no doubt that it will find its audience.
