Where did the Papa John’s pizzas go?

Present since 2017 in Lyon, the American franchise Papa John’s Pizza no longer gives any sign of life. Third major pizza player in the United States, behind Dominos and Pizza Hut, it has thousands of restaurants around the world. Established in many European countries, the brand wanted to conquer the French market by opening five restaurants in the Rhône: three in Lyon (2nd, 6th, and 9the arrondissements), Francheville and Villeurbanne.

Radio silence from Papa John’s France

From Lyon, the objective was to impose itself in France. Surprise this summer, the five shops have their curtains down. On social networks, no post has been published since mid-July and the site www.papajohns.fr no longer works.

To find out more, we tried to contact Ayman Halawa, owner of Papa John’s Pizza restaurants in France, without success. Likewise, the press department of Papa John’s international did not respond to our requests.

Questions, no answers

Cours Charlemagne (Lyon 2), where one of the antennas was installed, no poster, no sign. Neighboring merchants are also asking questions: have they gone on vacation? Will they reopen in September? Is this a permanent closure? Questions yet unanswered.
