Tony Khan Announces Future of AEW World Champion and Trios Champions Titles

A very hectic weekend on the AEW side and it’s not just All Out PPV, but mostly because of the behind-the-scenes issues. This week, we told you about a physical altercation of Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks against CM Punk and producer Ace Steel, a lot of news came out about it. Also involving numerous suspensions, without forgetting that we learned that CM Punk was once again injured just before the broadcast of Dynamite on September 7th.

During the September 7 broadcast of Dynamite, Tony Khan opened the show to talk about the future of the AEW World Championship and Trios titles as their holders are either suspended or suspended and injured in Punk’s case. Khan announced that these titles are now vacant. As for the Trios titles, the new champions were crowned with the opening match between Death Triangle against Best Friends, Death Triangle won the fight and thus became the second team champion in history. The first reign of Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks will therefore have lasted less than three days.

As for the world title, it will be re-assigned during a special AEW Dynamite Grand Slam on September 21 with a tournament. Adam Page, Bryan Danielson, Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin will face each other in the first round of the tournament, while Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley advance directly to the semi-finals. Tony Khan did not comment directly on the subject of the suspensions, but this announcement now confirms that the wrestlers are suspended AND lose the titles they just won at All Out.
