Pizzaiolo/Co-Owner of the Fuoco restaurant has been busy these days. During the month of October, which is also pizza month in Canada and the United States, chef/pizzaiolo Jason Pizzolongo made a very good impression at the PIZZA FEST CHALLENGE (Montreal’s biggest pizza competition) by winning the FIRST place in the Neapolitan-style pizza category with her “Bella Ciao” creation.
This year the category included several professional pizza participants from all over Quebec such as: Notre-Dame-du-Portage, the Laurentians, Chelsea and even Toronto!
“The caliber of the 2022 edition was superior to previous years” according to Mathieu Fortin, founder of the event for 5 years. The “pizzaiolli” gave everything to try to carve out a place on the podium. Only the most rigorous were able to access it.
Jason is not new to competition. It won the title of best Neapolitan Margherita pizza at PIZZA FEST 2019 and second place in the traditional category at PIZZA SUMMIT 2019 in Toronto. To date we can now say that the Fuoco family has been able to put Varennes on the map in terms of pizza!
