The Apple Car only exists in rumors, but some already want to buy it

Strategic Vision asked more than 200,000 new car owners in the United States which brand they would be interested in for a future vehicle. On such a scale, the first answer makes sense, since Toyota comes out on top, with 38% of participants considering a purchase. Japan has the coast in the country, thanks to a solid reputation for reliable cars, so we are not too surprised to find Honda on the second step, with 32% of respondents who would consider a purchase. However, the podium closes on an astonishing choice: Apple.

For the first time, Strategic Vision has added Tim Cook’s company to its list of brands likely to interest the surveyed sample. And Apple makes a sensational entry into the rankings, with no less than 26% of participants who would consider buying a car designed by them.

This is enough to overtake Ford (21%), which is nevertheless the number one in sales in the country, and Tesla (20%) which completes the top 5. In detail, it is the impression of quality associated with the brand at the apple that seems to have seduced and the president of this analysis firm judges that this reputation and this excellent knowledge of the brand are strong indicators that should worry the competition, if Apple were to release a car.

Because it is there that the bat hurts, indeed. The Titan project has been the subject of many rumors over the years, but Apple has never shown a vehicle, or even confirmed its interest in producing a car. Internally, it is rumored that the project has undergone multiple reversals between two major strategies: creating a vehicle from A to Z on the one hand, imagining the software intended for vehicles on the other. And even if Apple produced its own car, would it be intended for individuals or for fleets of autonomous devices?

Anyway, Apple undeniably has ambitions in this area, as the new CarPlay which occupies all the screens of the dashboard proves it. And the company could count on this interest from the public to impose it on the manufacturers, even if they do not seem particularly enthusiastic…
