A captivating series: The Morning Show (Apple TV+)

Behind the scenes of an American TV morning, The Morning Show paints the portrait of an ambitious team constantly in search of power among which two women try to hold their own.

The opinion of CNET France

Modern and incisive, The Morning Show is a series dealing with a TV show that wakes up America every morning and whose headliners are almost part of the audience’s family. The series then depicts the daily lives of these people that the public thinks they know to reveal how egos rub against each other behind the scenes and how everyone abuses their power.

From the #MeToo movement to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the topics that have hit US and international news in recent years are covered in The Morning Show and the series dissects the world of news and media with a keen eye.

With its five-star cast (Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Steve Carrell) and its masterful staging, The Morning Show is a well-written series that offers an acerbic take on today’s American media. The plot of the first season captivates the viewer’s attention without much difficulty and even if the series experiences a slight drop in speed in season 2, The Morning Show remains a quality program that is pleasant to watch.

A Fascinating Series: Shadow and Bone: The Grisha Saga (Netflix)

An evil fog has divided the kingdom of Ravka for millennia until young Alina discovers she is endowed with powers that could change everything.

The opinion of CNET France

Categorized as a young adult fantasy series, Shadow and Bone offers an interesting universe populated by diverse and captivating characters. Visually, the series is very successful, both in terms of special effects and costumes and sets.

We then easily let ourselves be taken on board in this kingdom with accents of Eastern Europe and Asia whose characters transport us in an adventure rich in twists, and fans of “young adult” fiction will find their account in Shadow and Bone.

The series offers a rich universe and its elaborate narration keeps the viewer in suspense over the episodes. At the end of the first season, the world of the Grisha seems more fascinating than ever and the series promises to impress the viewer even more in its second season, which should arrive in 2023.

An entertaining series: Lupine (Netflix)

Assane Diop, a big fan of Arsène Lupin, uses his knowledge of The Gentleman Burglar to avenge his father, accused of a crime he did not commit.

The opinion of CNET France

Lupine was a resounding success on Netflix, thanks more to the charm and performance of Omar Sy than to the quality of his script.

If the series skilfully uses the universe of Arsène Lupin to weave its story, it nevertheless does a little too often in the facility and struggles to fully convince. But Lupine nonetheless a good entertainment that will delight viewers fond of this kind of story.

With two short seasons under his belt so far, Lupine has not said its last word on the streaming platform and should continue to intrigue viewers in a season 3 coming soon to Netflix, probably by the end of 2022.

If the series has more the favors of the public than of the critics, it has the advantage of proposing an original concept in the French serial landscape and of highlighting interesting characters whose adventures it is pleasant to follow. To see or review without moderation.
