MonsterVerse: Mari Yamamoto stays on Apple TV+

According to Deadline, Mari Yamamoto (kate) has joined the cast of the upcoming Apple original series from MonsterVerse by Legendary. She thus joins her co-star of PachinkoAnna Sawai, but also Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, Elisa Lasowski, Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell.

Like her previously announced co-stars, details about who she will play in the live-action series are yet to be announced. However, it is known that Chris Black and Matt Fraction’s television work will take place after the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real. The series will explore a family’s journey to uncover their buried secrets and a legacy that binds them to the secret organization known as Monarch.

Co-created by Black and Fraction, the series – currently untitled – will be directed in part by Emmy-nominated Matthew Shakman. The latter will also be executive producer alongside Fraction and showrunner Black. Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold of Safehouse Pictures, and Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita of Toho Co. Ltd., which owns the rights to the franchise Godzilla, will also be members of the creative team. Legendary Television produces for Apple TV+.
