Kate Middleton: dark glasses and defeated face, she accuses the blow after the death of Elizabeth II

This Friday, September 9, the day after the death of Elizabeth II, Kate Middleton was seen. Dressed all in black, the Duchess was photographed driving, looking serious.

  • The Duchess was attending her children’s first day of school

The royal family has lost its compass. This Thursday, September 8, almost all the members of the Crown went to the bedside of Elizabeth II. At Balmoral, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles arrived first, followed by Her Majesty’s other children and Prince William. It is indeed without Kate Middleton that the Duke of Cornwall made the way to Balmoral, in Scotland. The reason ? His wife preferred to stay in London for the start of the school year for her children, George, Charlotte and Louis, in their new school. This Friday, September 9 in the afternoon, Kate Middleton was seen for the first time since the announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The very dark Duchess was photographed on a drive through Windsor wearing a black jumper hidden behind a pair of sunglasses.

It seems that she left her home to pick up her three children from school. Kate Middleton also wore pearl earrings that were considered mourning jewelery by British family members. According to Crown experts, it was the absence of Prince William’s wife that forced Meghan Markle not to travel to Scotland either. “It was the first day at a new school for the children of the Duke and Duchess, and I don’t think they wanted to interrupt that day or scare the children on the first day, assured a specialist to the British media. In my opinion, the absence of Meghan Markle is probably due to the fact that Kate Middleton did not go there. Meghan doesn’t want to interrupt something sacred and feels particularly uncomfortable without Kate there.”

Kate and William: what are their new titles?

Hours after the official announcement of Her Majesty’s death, the Cambridges paid a heartbreaking tribute. “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and Queen Consort will stay tonight and return to London tomorrow,” wrote Kate Middleton and Prince William, who reposted the official statement from Buckingham Palace. Like his father, Prince William left Balmoral this Friday, September 9 to return to London. He will attend the Accession Council, during which Charles III will be officially proclaimed king at Saint James’s Palace. Since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, have inherited new titles.

Officially, then, they became the new Duke and Duchess of Cornwall. Indeed, the Duchy of Cornwall is always awarded to the eldest son of the incumbent sovereign. King Charles III held it himself until the death of his mother Elizabeth II on September 8. Note that William and Kate remain Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for the time being, and will probably remain so until the prince’s accession to the throne. After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William and Kate Middleton could also inherit other prestigious titles : those of Prince and Princess of Wales. It is indeed traditional that the heir to the throne bears the title of Prince of Wales. However, the allocation of the latter is not regulated and will only take place if the new King Charles III so decides.
