iPadOS 16: Apple confirms a staggered launch

2

If in general the new versions of iOS and iPadOS come out at the same time, this will not be the case this year. Apple has confirmed that the update for its tablets will be launched later in the fall, directly in version 16.1.

How the pricing table works

After several weeks of speculation, Apple has finally confirmed to our American colleagues at TechCrunch that the launch of iPadOS 16 will not take place at the same time as that of iOS 16, as was the case before.

The beta version of iPadOS 16 has not met with the same success as that of iOS 16. Buggy and not really successful, it is especially Stage Manager, the main novelty, which has struggled to convince. The feature reserved for models equipped with an M1 chip responded in a rather strange way, so much so that three months before its supposed launch, there were many concerns. At the beginning of August, indiscretions reported a postponement of the release of iPadOS 16 intended to solve the problems observed. A one-month staggered launch, scheduled for October, that Apple has finally confirmed:

“This is a particularly important year for iPadOS. As a platform with features built specifically for iPad, we have the flexibility to deliver iPadOS on its own schedule. This fall, iPadOS will ship after iOS, in version 16.1. “

The new update will therefore be released in October, not in version 16, but directly in version 16.1 – the one that has just been made available to developers. A first for the American company which could, in the future, continue to operate in this way, since it is now clear that it establishes a clear distinction between the software for iPhone and that intended for its iPad.
