Pizza Hut Canada restaurants are adding plant-based Beyond Meat Italian Sausage Chunks to their permanent menu. Free of GMOs, soy or gluten, these sausages contain 20g of pea protein per serving.

“After seeing great enthusiasm from Pizza Hut consumers in Tonroto and Edmonton last summer, we are beyond excited to give Canadians across the country the opportunity to try and fall in love with the Beyond Meat on the menu, Amy Rozinsky, head of consumer marketing at Pizza Hut Canada, said in a statement. Pizza Hut and Beyond Meat have a shared vision for innovating new products that will delight our consumers. »

Beyond Meat Italian Sausage Chunks are found in three dishes: Beyond Large Pizza, Beyond Italian Sausage Alfredo Flatbread, and Beyond Alfredo Creamy. They can also be added as a topping to any custom pizza. Pizza Hut thus offers an alternative to the traditional Italian pork sausage and responds to the growing consumer demand for vegetable proteins.

“Through the combined strength of our brands, we continue to increase plant-based protein accessibility for all Canadians,” said Beyond Meat’s Director of Growth, Deanna Jurgens. At Beyond Meat, we believe that small dietary changes, like choosing plant-based protein on your favorite pizza, can have a positive impact on human and planetary health. »

This national launch is part of a broader global strategic partnership between Yum! Brands, the parent company of Pizza Hut, and Beyond Meat to create plant-based menus. Canada is the second market to permanently offer Beyond Meat menu items nationally. After a successful trial of Beyond Meat pizzas in the UK last year, Pizza Hut added them to the permanent menu at all Pizza Hut restaurants in the UK in July 2021.
