Apple – you will soon be able to repair your MacBook yourself – LaptopSpirit

Apple has announced its new Self Service Repair service allowing Apple MacBook Air and MacBook Pro owners to repair their laptops themselves.

For now, the new service Self Service Repair concerns only the Apple MacBook Air and Apple MacBook Pro equipped with an in-house Apple Silicon M1 chip.

For each model, the brand offers several possible repairs by marketing the appropriate elements, such as the screen, the shell and the battery or the touchpad.

A solution that may be of interest to those who do not want to travel (sometimes far) to an Apple Store or an authorized repairer:

Apple will offer rental kits for $49, so customers who don’t want to buy tools for a one-time repair still have access to these professional repair tools. Customers will have access to the toolkit for one week and it will ship for free.

This service is initially only available in the United States but will be extended to European countries by the end of the year.
