Apple has just launched iOS 16. Among the novelties of this update are the passkeys. A substitute for passwords.
Apple has more than one trick up its sleeve. His new mission? Make passwords disappear thanks to iOS 16. MCE TV tells you everything from A to Z!
Apple at the forefront of technology
Last year, Apple landed with a brand new phone. A model that quickly won over lovers of new technologies.
Indeed, the iPhone 13 seems to bring together all the elements necessary for optimal use.
If the basic version is able to store up to 128 GB of files, it would seem that the pro and pro max models are, on their side, of a much higher power.
And for good reason ! The most expensive one does have the ability to hold up to 1 TB of data. Unheard of in the world of mobile telephony. Samsung therefore has something to worry about. Its competitor is on all fronts.
Especially since the extraordinary memory of the iPhone 13 is not the only detail that caught the eye of fans of the bitten apple.
Apple has also made the decision to bet everything on a more resistant product. Thus, the contours of the mobile are in stainless steel or aluminum depending on the model chosen.
But that’s not all ! A major innovation has also emerged in the True Depth camera lens. This is a special notch put in place for the purpose of protect the Face ID tool when dropped.
A significant little extra that has not failed to create a sensation among users. But beware. This should disappear on the next versions of the smartphone.
The reason ? The goal now is to get as close as possible to Steve Jobs’ vision of the device. In fact, Face ID should be integrated into the screen. MCE TV tells you more about the iPhone.
iOS 16 makes passwords disappear
You will therefore understand, the latest creation from Apple is at the top. However, the editorial staff does not intend to praise the merits of the iPhone 13.
Indeed, it is a question today of tackling a completely different subject. That of passwords! iOS 16 is indeed available since this Monday, September 12, 2022.
According to the information uploaded by Ouest France, this new version supports passkeys. What is it about ? Well, according to our colleagues, it is “a new technological authentication process supposed to replace our passwords. »
Apple explains this new system as follows: “When creating an account in an app or on a website, the operating system generates a unique pair of encryption keys [des codes, secrets et cryptés, ndlr] that will be associated with the account in question. These keys are securely generated by the device and are unique to each account.
In other words, no more passwords. A simple fingerprint store in iCloud Keychain should suffice. Apple says this new feature is “faster and easier to use”. But also “much more secure”.
And for good reason ! We all tend to choose simple passwords. Thus, Apple guarantees to protect your data.
