Apple TV+ earns 51 2022 Emmy nominations

The nominees for the 2022 Emmy Awards were announced today and Apple TV+ has earned 51 nominations for its series, with Ted Lasso and Severance on your mind. For information, the Emmy Awards are the equivalent of the Oscars, but for television programs (essentially series).

Ted Lasso was again nominated in the Best Comedy Series category, after winning all the awards last year. Severance was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, Adam Scott as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and John Turturro and Christopher Walken as Outstanding Supporting Actors in a Drama Series.

Other nominees in the drama program category include Better Call Saul, Euphoria, Squid Game, Succession, Stranger Things and Yellowjackets. Severance will therefore have significant competition.

The cast and crew of Apple TV+ received a number of other nominations. Ted Lasso earned a total of 20 nominations in categories including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

In any case, Apple TV+ manages to do better than last year in terms of the Emmy Awards. The streaming service had 34 nominations in 2021. Here are 51 this time around.

The ceremony for the 2022 Emmy Awards will take place on September 13.
