Apple could launch its MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max this fall

Apple would soon refresh its MacBook Pro lineup with new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, potentially as early as this fall. These machines would benefit from a jump in terms of the graphics part and would benefit from progress similar to that of M2.

After having just launched the first Macs with an M2 chip with the MacBook Air M2 and the 13-inch MacBook Pro M2, Apple would not intend to stop there since the firm would already be launching new computers equipped with new versions of its M2 chip.

A potential release between fall and spring 2023

According to information from Mark Gurman, journalist at Bloomberg, shared in his newsletter power-on, Apple would soon pull new MacBook Pros equipped with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips out of its hat, potentially as early as this fall. The company, which has already started working on its next iterations of chips, would give a first successor to its new design launched barely a year ago.

The release of these new MacBook Pros would, according to him, be expected between the fall of 2022 and the spring of 2023. Gurman specifying that it is difficult to predict the exact moment of release because of the current difficulties which are restricting the supply chain.

M2 Pro and M2 Max chips modeled on the progress of M2?

According to his information, the design of these new Macs should remain “about the same” and only offer a new processor. The details on the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are still quite vague for now, the newsletter simply telling us that these future chips should focus more on the graphics part.

This was also the case of the M2 chip compared to the M1 chip which was entitled (in its 10-core GPU version) to 25% higher graphics performance. The new generation of Apple chips benefited this year from a jump in performance of 11.56% in single-core and 18% in multicore. So we might expect similar improvements when it comes to the upcoming M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. Let’s also hope that by then, the few storage problems concerning Apple Macs will have been resolved.
