In August 2021, almost two years ago to the day, Apple offered itself Primephonic, a streaming service specializing in classical music. Objective for the Apple: to recover all the know-how of the company to develop its own alternative, under the bosom of the current offer of Apple Music. To do this, a new dedicated app should see the light of day: Cupertino has confirmed it. But this is still pending.
However, according to the source code of the latest beta version of Apple Music on Android, the preparation of this novelty would have already made good progress. Some smart guys have indeed managed to get their hands on a mention to Apple Classic in the platform, which would therefore be the name of the new classical music app. Be careful though, because it could also only be an internal nomenclature that will change for the public.
A movement that risks questioning
In fact, the piece of code found in Apple Music evokes a shortcut which would redirect users directly to Apple Classical. We imagine that the button will be placed next to an album by Beethoven or Vivaldi, for example, so that aficionados of these artists benefit from a better experience with a specialized app.
However, as the European regulators have already been able to point out, this type of process can be considered as anti-competitive. Officials believe that when Settings offers you to switch to Apple One or Photos encourages you to checkout with iCloud +, Apple does everything to “lock you in” in its ecosystem to the detriment of small publishers.
