Hollywood is in mourning, the family of James Caan announced on Twitter the disappearance of the latter at the age of 82 years. James Caan was one of the iconic figures of American cinema. He was best known for his role in “The Godfather” alongside other film giants such as Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

It was in New York that the famous actor was born in 1940. He began his career in small roles such as in “Irma La Douce” by Billy Wilder, “El dorado” and “People of the rain”, In the 60s.
It was in 1972 that he received the first role that will inscribe his name in the great history of cinema. It was the time when he landed the role of Sonny Corleone in the cult saga “The Godfather”. It also earned him an Oscar nomination.

Robert De Niro said he was very sad to learn of Jimmy’s passing. And for his part, the director, Francis Ford Coppola said he will never forget James, he will always be his closest friend. Kathy Bates, who starred with him in “Misery” also paid tribute to him on Twitter.

Guillaume Canet, a French actor and director, also wrote a long text on Instagram to honor the legend of American cinema.
“I had the chance as a director to experience wonderful things and if there is one of which I am really proud it is to have had the honor of making a film with the immense James Caan” , he testified.
