How to Create a Yellow Illusion Effect in Photoshop

How to Create a Yellow Illusion Effect in Photoshop

Todays Photoshop tutorial is from our selection of photo adjustment effect building guides. We want to show how to get the color with just a few simple adjustment and color layers. Everyone knows that in the newspapers, models are almost always converted to just draw the eye to them. So we here at Wordrom think it would be fun to create the effects we see in everyday life. These effects can also often be found in television commercials.

Final Image Preview

Before we start, take a really good look at the effect that we will create.

Step 1

Open up your image in photoshop. If you want to use the one we used, download it here.

Step 2

We just want to create a touch of yellow in the image. Create a adjustment layer, Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color, use #000052 as color. Set the layers opacity to 40% and change the blend mode to Exclusion.

Step 3

You can feel that the image looks smaller with this yellow touch, so we should make it more bright. Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Color. Use the setting shown below.

Step 4

Now it is a little to cold and we want it to be a bit more warmer. Create another Selective Adjustment layer and set options shown below.

Step 5

We also want to have more contrast. Create one more Color fill layer, use #c2c9f8 as fill color. Change blend mode to Color Brun.

Step 6

We have made the models edges a little bit to sharp, so let´s make it smoother with a Brightness & Contrast layer. Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Brightness/Contrast, set contrast to -40.

Step 7

It is still a bit to cold. Create another Selective Adjustment layer, this will warm it up and create more depth.

Conclusion

We are done! This is a kind of simple but yet creative adjustment that you could add to your photos. If you create something similar, please share it with us. Thanks!
