What We’re Making

Before we get started, let’s take a look at the image we’ll be creating.

Brushes Needed

Brushes that can be used in the tutorial.

Step 1

Create a new document, 1920px width 1200px height. Select the Gradient Tool (G). Foreground color #003c9a background color to #000000. Drag a Radial Gradient like the image below.

Now use the Smudge Tool to smudge it like the image below.

Step 3

Select the Brush Tool (B). Set foreground color to #001850. Draw some abstract shapes. Remember that it is better to keep all shapes in separat layers, for easier customize.

Step 4

Repeat last step but use the color #032065 instead.

Step 5

One time more draw some shapes, use the color #ffffff.

Step 6

Merged all the white shaped layers into one individual layer, mark all white layers then hit Command + E.

Step 7

Copy the new white layer and drag it below the “real” white layer. Blur the layer Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur with 1 pixel radius. Change opacity of the layer to 50%.

Step 8

Last but not least we want to make the middle of the shapes shine. Use the Brush Tool (B) to draw a circle like the image below. Color #f0ff00. Then smudge it out.

Step 9

Change the layers Blend Mode to Saturation.
