Welcome to Wordrom, please introduce yourself. Give us a little background bio about yourself, tell us where you’re from.

I am a 30 years old graphic/multimedia designer with a bachelor degree in fine arts, a bachelor in multimedia techinques and new media.

Currently I’m working as Art Director for X3 Studios, Creative Director at slashHTREE and proud member of The KDU. I am self motivated, always wanting to experiment and looking for challenges on every field of visual communication: digital matte painting, vfx, graphic design, experimental illustration, typography, interactive and new media, combining traditional techniques with digital ones in order to obtain something unique, something unexpected and spectacular.

Your work is pretty unique and full of creativity. Where does your inspiration come from?

From my imagination in the first place. I’m inspired by everything that surrounds me: objects, situations, people, etc I love to combine things, to use objects in unusual ways, to experiment. I love to experiment and it keeps me sharp.

Could you tell us about your process? What does your workflow look like?

I don’t have an usual workflow when I want to experiment. After I’m nailing the idea in my head, sometimes it takes a month, sometimes two or three days, I’m starting to translate it into digital or amek some sketches, but on the way I’m changing it if something cooler pops up. And that’s the beauty of it that I’m not playing by the rules and it always turns out to be great. But like in every process, my workflow is made by three important stages (01.documentation/project brief; 02.experimentation/brainstorming; 03.implementation/creation; 04. delivery/testing/adjustments)

What do you consider your major influences to be? What are your favorite sources of inspiration? Do you find yourself browsing any online design communitIes or websites?

I’m browsing every day on cool websites and interesting blogs but my main source of inspiration are the great surealists, romanticists, deconstructivists and expressionists masters.

Do you work in a office? What does your workstation look like? What tools and applications do you mainly use?

I’m working in an office and at home. I’m working on quad core PC’s, dual monitors and a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet. Nothing fancy here, just the regular stuff. The main application is Adobe Photoshop.

Are you a 9-5 worker or a night-owl? Do you have a normal or peculiar structure to your workday? How does a typical day looks like for you?

A 10-7 worker as Art Director and after that, I’m unleashing my experimental side. So I’m working about 10 to 12 hours everyday, but I’m enjoying it so I never can be tired of it.

What’s been your most challenging project so far in your career? What was challenging about it? And how did you overcome those challenges?

Every project has it’s challanges and I can’t say I have a favorite: sometimes I manage 17 people to get it done, sometimes I had to cam up with an brilliant idea in just a few hours, sometimes the process is more complicated and elaborated that we expected, but I can tell you that for each one I gave the best I’ve had. I enjoyed every each one and I’m looking to enyout it in the future too. One of my mottos is that if I like it, the client will like it, so I’m working on them until I’m love of every one of them. And it works like a charm: the client is happy and I’m proud of them. :)

Which is your favorite piece of work that you have created so far and why? What was the inspiration and idea behind it?

As I told you I don’t have favs, every one is special for me in an unique way, but I’m inviting you to see my latest illustrations for slashTHREE, for the artpack that we just released: “Le Cirque du Couleurs”.

What kind of developments do you see in the future, regarding the type of work you do?

Expermienting experimenting experimenting I’m trying to evolve and to develop my conceptual and technical skills so I’m expecting nothing more than cool things :) This year I’m looking for collabs and as you can see I already started some serious ones: the first type collab between me and Stefan Romanu was a real hit “The Trisec Fonts” and the Abduzeedo World Collab.

So if you are a photographer, an illustrator, a sound designer, a flash developer or an graphic desinger have an interesting idea, don’t hezitate to contact me. :)

Thanks again for providing Wordrom with this opportunity to interview you. Any final thoughts for our readers?
